Stubai Prime Park Sessions – It’s a wrap
10 December 2013
Winter 2013/14 is just starting to come into full swing, but for the Stubai Prime Park Sessions, Schneestern’s biggest project of the pre-season in the fall of 2013, you can already read “It’s a wrap!” To find perfect training-conditions for slopestyle, the new discipline in the Olympic program, the world best snowboarders and freeskiers came to the Stubai Glacier in Tirol from October 21st to November 17th 2013. Schneestern exclusively customized the proline of the Moreboards Stubai Zoo for the Stubai Prime Park Sessions by adapting key features of the slopestyle course of Sotchi 2014. Besides the massive triple kickerline and various jib-features an Air Bag was available for all riders, so that new tricks could be learned easily and be stomped safely into the snow afterwards.
Doubles and Triples were day-to-day business. For example: The 21-year old Austrian Anna Gasser landed the first ever Double Cork 900 by a snowboarding girl and should be a hot prospect for the podium at the Games in February 2014. Altogether 57 international top riders from 13 nations made the Stubai Prime Park Sessions in Austria’s biggest glacier ski resort to the highlight of the pre-season. The presence of snowboarders like Shaun White (USA), Jamie Nicholls (GBR), Seppe Smits (BEL) and Cheryl Maas (NED) and freeskiers like Hendrik Harlaut (SWE), Oystein Braaten (NOR), Oscar Wester (SWE) and Elias Ambühl (SUI) does not need or call for any commentary and speaks for itself and for the quality of the slopestyle course prepared by Schneestern.
To fulfill the top-rider’s demands for a top-setup, the shapers were able to work exclusively with a brand-new Kässbohrer PistenBully ParkPro. “The prototype was developed together with Schneestern and features an easy, fast and precise handling. You can operate the whole machine with just one hand, so you can work really accurate and it fits perfect for the work in the park,” says Schneestern parkdesigner Michael Sonnenberger enthusiastically. “Especially with the new features on the blade, the kicker preparation gets even more easier.” And as we at Schneestern can use the new ParkPro all winter long for building and shaping our snowparks, we will even try to perfect the machine to ease up our shaper’s lifes and enhance our snowpark’s quality.
A Shaper’s Life – not always bluebird
05 December 2013
Perfect prepared kicker, fresh polished rails and boxes, as well as perfect snow conditions, sunshine and t-shirt weather. That’s how the pictures of our snowparks look like. But the image of the perfect shaped park fools a bit, in our newest video from the construction of the Stubai Prime Park Sessions we show, that the shaperslife is not always just bluebird.
3.000 meters above sea level the shapers are permanent susceptible to all weather conditions. But as the weather does not comply with any man made plans, eight scheduled days for the construction can turn pretty quick into four because of incompatible conditions. Then the Schneestern guys have to speed up, sleep a couple of hours on the hill and go on shaping. A job where endurance is demanded.
But the magic moment in the morning, when the sun rises over the mountain peaks , the nightshift-work can be seen and the park shines in its new splendor, the shapers are more than compensated for the work performed. That’s also the moment for us at Schneestern when we are reminded why we love our job so much and why we do it with full dedication.
Schneestern – We create in Germany
18 November 2013
To the premiere of the new Schneestern production-movie we provide you with exclusive insights behind the scenes of our production with this Making-of. As you can see in the clip, not only safety, continuous development and perfectionism reflect our products, but foremost the fun we all have at work. Our production team consists of 20 snow-, skate- and wakeboarders as well as mountainbikers already working hand in hand for several years. They slip their first-class knowhow and foremost their passion for those sports into the production of our obstacles. With metal workers, design engineers, plastic technicians and carpenters the young team around construction-supervisor Martin Haensel brings experience and knowledge from diverse creative and craft sectors that are more than important for the different production steps.
As winter is more or less just around the corner, the production season in our workshop is at it’s peak. Next to 3.000 working hours monthly put into the obstacle-production, we use up more than 50 tons of steel, synthetics and other raw materials every month. Result are more than 100 manufactured individual parts and 40 complete, jibable Obstacles per week. To offer the same quality and timing of supply even in the future, the building of a second production-workshop and a connected office are in the process right now. So the 5.000m2 production- and storage-area will be increased again for 2014.
We also like to thank the boys of the filmmaker-collective "graupause" who filmed and produced the Schneestern production film and the making-of. The experienced team of graupause is anchored to the snowboard and freeski scene and already has been working with Schneestern together. The shots from all over Germany are perfectly visualized to the values we stand for: professionalism, ingenuity, partnership and identification. We look forward to the upcoming winter season and can not wait to see our products in the snow.

Schneestern and Burton Snowboards bring even the smallest kids on board
09 November 2013
Learning to snowboard has never been so easy! As already Friedrich Schiller did, Burton Snowboards also knows: “Tis early practice only makes the master.“ Therefore the Burton-Riglet-Program now gives kids between three and six years the possibility to gain first experience on a snowboard. According the motto “pulling kids in the right direction” the mobile playground called Riglet-Park is currently touring through cities all over Europe and creates a first contact with the sport of snowboarding in a playful way. As normal-sized obstacles would be totally inappropriate for this aim and special features were a must, Burton Snowboards teamed up with Schneestern. With our knowhow regarding obstacles suitable for children, we could not only realize the production of the mobile Burton-Riglet-Park within the shortest time possible, but also guarantee the quality and safety of the XS-format features.
On several mini-ramps, -boxes and -seesaws the youngsters can gather first shred-experiences in an easy, fun and playful way. With this cooperation we at Schneestern show that we cannot only provide the best possible training facilities for grown snowboarders preparing for the Olympic Games as currently with the Stubai Prime Park Sessions, but with our XS-features of the Burton-Riglet-Park we also contribute to bring even the smallest kids on a snowboard.

New three year cooperation between Schneestern and Kässbohrer promises a bright future!
The cooperation won’t be limited on the maintenance of snowparks, furthermore we will work together on the technical development of the snowcats. Both companies complement each other in their work ethic with the same commitment to safety and quality. The current Stubai Prime Park Session is supported by Kässbohrer with a brand new PistenBully ParkPro. With our Shape Crew we will test the machine extensively in the upcoming weeks.
Lots of exciting joint projects are about to follow. We will keep you updated!
Stubai Prime Park Sessions
24 October 2013
International Slopestyle stars train for the olympics
In February 2014 Olympic history will be written — Slopestyle will debut as part of the Olympic program. This autumn the Stubai Prime Park Sessions on the Stubai Glacier, Austria, offer the world’s best freeskiers and snowboarders the ideal opportunity to prepare for this spectacular event. The MOREBOARDS Stubai Zoo Snowpark has been a season kick-off point for the international freeski and snowboard community. From October 21st to November 17th 2013 Austria’s largest glacier ski area will be hosting the Stubai Prime Park Sessions for the first time. The goal is to create one-of-a-kind training conditions for the world’s best slopestyle riders.
With this goal in mind, we’ve spared no efforts. Preparations for the coming fall season were at full speed. Beginning of October the Schneestern team started its work with their brand new PistenBully ParkPro snow groomers. The park setup itself has been designed entirely to the riders’ wishes and contains key elements of the Olympic slopestyle course. Besides a three-kicker line and a bag jump, diverse jib features will await the participating athletes. The top riders of the world never had such an opportunity to hone their skills in a park built especially for them.
Expanded Pro-Line as additional offer
Snowpark guests will also profit directly from the improvements of the park infrastructure and the investment in the re-engineering of the Pro-Line. During the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere, the official Snowpark Opening from 18-20 October 2013, the complete setup was primed and opened to the general public. In the following weeks the Pro Park will be open to the public at 12:00pm every day as a supplement to the expanded medium park on the other side of the Gaisskarferner lift. The work now in progress will benefit not only future Olympic athletes, but will also lay the foundation for a new and improved Pro Line in the Stubai Zoo. The Stubai Prime Park Sessions demonstrate the Stubai Glacier’s commitment of improving and expanding its snowpark offering. More info on the facebook page
